As I said in another thread: I have set myself a target date of mid-summer to get the OM-D E-M1.
I have a couple of nice lenses with my E-5. Are those of you that now have a micro 4/3 camera, using 4/3 lenses-with-adapter, and if so, how does that work out?
Are you getting the quality photos you expect?
The reason I am postponing purchase to mid-summer, is that I want to get at least one lens with the body, plus the adapter.
I definitely do not want to abandon my E-5, but can see where sometimes the E-M1 can be a definite advantage.
focus with 4/3 lenses isn't quite as good as what it is on the e-5, but it's more than acceptable. I use the 12-60 mostly, then my 50mm. Believe it or not, I've not mounted my 50-200 on it (wrong time of season up here for that lens).
The 8mm is great, as is the 7-14. I sold my E-5, and do not miss it one bit.
What types of things do you like to shoot?

I like to tell "stories", for example, just now a new church building is going up behind our old one, and a picture once a week (later on, probably once a day) will tell the story.
Christmas morning: Forget the adults, just take pictures of the kids' faces when opening their gifts.
Holidays: whatever we run into: landscapes, buildings, cloud formations... (absolutely not: "This is my husband in front of...").
You'll be fine with the EM1...I'd be concerned if you were doing sports or birds...your shooting style sounds a lot like mine.

Sports... nothing worse than the kids fooling around in the backyard pool.
Birds... a few interesting ones, only if they come close enough to my sundeck, and then only when the weather is warm enough to sit outside.
Although one time I was really sorry I didn't have a long lens:
Just as I was going out, there was this enormous racket near the top of a very tall evergreen across the street. Looking up: a huge bald eagle preening him/herself while sitting on the very top branch of that tree, and four or five crows and a number of smaller birds dive-bombing him/her...
Fascinating to watch!

I just got my EM1 a week ago so I haven't used all my 4/3 lenses yet. The 12-60 works well. I have tried a few shots with the 50-200 M-I and was pleased with the accuracy and speed of focus. The 35 macro racks around a little but does focus at least by the second try which is something it NEVER did on the EM5 (useless on that one). The 9-18 also hunts a bit but locks focus pretty quickly. (I used it with pretty good success with the EM5) I have not tried the 70-300 yet. I never had any luck with it on the EM5 but many people did.

What 4/3 lenses do you have?
I also sold the E-5 and don't miss it one bit now that the EM-1 is in its place. The sports I shoot are going to be greatly enhanced once that rockin' 40-150 f2.8pro hits the market. I used to use the 150 f2 (4/3) on the E-5 but it was too unwieldy for fast action stuff. I think the 40-150 will be farr better for that.

14-54 II, 30mm (or 35mm) macro, 70-300mm, the two kit lenses that came with the E-500, 50-200mm the first and last used the most.
Also have 1.4 TC that works very nicely with 14-54 II.
The 14-54 II should work just fine, and I suspect that it would be mounted to the body 80% of the time...It maybe just a split second longer to lock AF...but the nice thing is that you'll be able to use the touch screen to determine the focus point.
Ah, the ol E-500...I miss that camera. Gave it to my sister in law.
