Howdy, And Happy New Year Everyone. I'm new here and am looking forward to a member, as well as learning from all of you pros in the photography field. I'm new to photography so that makes me a green~horn sorta speak. I own a Nikon D3100 that came with the VR DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm, and "I bought a 55-300mm in all honesty, I love it. I have seen others here poking fun at Nikon owners but hey, That's ok... To each his own but don't over do the poking fun at us please. Anyway, Howdy all, Nice to be here.

Hi Roger, happy new year, and welcome to the hog. Yes, we do have fun. Us Canon users are always talking down Nikon users. BUT only in fun. So, join in, have some fun yourself. Looking forward to seeing some of your work, post soon.

Welcome ... and don't pay too much attention to cheap shots against Nikon!
As an Olympus user (all I have owned since 1978) I have gotten used to just sitting back and watching/listening as the Canon and Nikon folks take shots back and forth, with occasional pot shots directed at anything with less than an APS-C sensor in it (e.g., all of my Olympus stuff). Would be nice sometimes to have a forum like this on which it would be taboo to post what equipment you are using or ask others what they use (except maybe just the basic exposure info ... aperture, shutter speed, ISO and maybe focal length). Let the photos speak for themselves :)
Welcome to the UHH. You picked a great starter camera. Photography is all about light, how you use it to illuminate your subject and how to capture it to preserve what you see. Learn what you can from others and experiment with everything. Experience will, no doubt, be your greatest teacher. The UHH is a great place to learn and ask for help. Happy New Year and have a GREAT DAY!
