OH BOY!!! Talk about frustration at its finest!
I have been trying to calibrate my monitor with my editing software and I am just not getting it done! Not really sure what I am doing wrong. Not sure if I understand the process at all as far as that goes!
If anyone would be so gracious as to chime in with some ideas or advice I would be forever grateful! Is it necessary to purchase calibration tools?
Time to buy a Color Munki for calibration of monitor and also printer. Don't ask how much, just buy it. You'll not be sorry and those who see your images will be impressed by the quality of your color.

What editing software ? You mean like Photo Shop ?
Here is another vote for the Color Munki. Actually, all the X-Rite products are quite good.
Roger Salls is correct, don't ask how much, just go get it. Easy to use and if you want, it will profile your printer and a projector as well.

Sorry, I had to ask. $449.00, wow. Do you know of anything a little more economical? I have been thinking about monitor calibration lately too.

The color munki is a great tool but a bit too pricey for me. I use the Spyder Pro 3. Just for monitor calibration. I do all my printing at outside labs. Here is some info on the Spyder

Thank you for the advice! I was hoping I could get by a bit longer without a huge purchase. I too was looking at the spyder. Thanks again all!

yes photoshop. I have corel on my desktop but not really liking corel too much and it seemed to be much easier when I attempted calibration for that one, but thinking I still do not have it quite right!
You can get the 'ColorMunki Display' for $139.00 on Amazon. It'll calibrate your screen or projector, but not your printer. If you don't print your own prints, it's all you need.

If you only want or need to calibrate your monitor spyder is far less costly BUT if you print or plan to print at home I'd sure recommend you save your pennies and hold off until you can buy the ColorMunki. ColorMunki will calibrate your printer, monitor and I believe your scanner as well. Bottom line here is if you plant to print spend the extra bucks, you'll be glad you did.
