I am an excited owner of the nikon d7000. I am taking pictures of my new grandchild...she moves/jerks alot...she is 3 months old. I have camera on P mode, and also use AUTO mode...sometimes---especially when the baby smiles, the camera will not take the photo...is there a setting Ineed to change? I want to take great Christmas shots, so PLEASE any input is appreciated. Thank you..

Welcome to the group.
What lens are you using and how close to her are you? If you're too close on AUTO and it cant focus, it wont take the shot.

I posted on your duplicate thread.
What lens are you using and how close are you to the baby? If you're too close and on AUTO, the autofocus wont work and the shutter wont activate.

You might try sports mode, other wise backup and crop later. Turn off auto focus, get it in focus and wait

Sounds to me like you are too close for the autofocus to work. Back up a little and use the zoom. The minimum focus length for the D7000 18-105 kit lens is about 1.5 feet. Anything closer and the autofocus will not focus the lens and allow you to activate the shutter

Thank you for your input. Using kit lens 18-105. I hear the Beep--i have turned on--which is supposed to mean its in focus...it does it in Auto, and A or P mode...it clicks away until she smiles...seriously...was wondering if I need to turn on focus tracking???...
