Hi there.
The short bio: Started working for the oldest commercial photographic store in Utah. Bill Shipler Photo, est. 1890. Very old Utah firm and one of Kodak's oldest dealers. When we closed, I literally brought home a ton of Kodak advertising, like real 4 x 8 foot black and white dealer prints as well as hundreds of dealer Coloramas.
I ran the black and white lab, processing everything from 8-MM black and white movie stock, and Minox, to 110, 126, 35mm, 828, other sizes as well as 120/220, 4 x 5, and larger... up to 11 X 14. If we had the film before 10:00 am, you had quality in your hands at 5:00 the same day. We charged 1.25 to process (most) roll film and 17 cents per print; enlarger made on cut sheet Kodabromide, tray processed, washed in a large PAKO rotating drum and plenty of water. Prints were dried on a PAKO ferrotype drum dryer and straightened using a huge steam powered bath Kodak Print Straightener.
I have shot assignments for our clients with Circuit cameras, banquet cameras, Linhof, Eastman Master View Cameras, 10-inch aerial cameras, Stereo Realists and on one occasion, a roll of Viewmaster stereo reels for a archetecural model maker; and everything else.
I have dye transfer experience, Vectograph experience and experience with other specialty processes, like the Kodak XOGRAPH Lenticular Camera System for 3D.
When we closed, we had many new cameras in stock, but manufactured in 140 or so, complete with flash bulbs, film, warranty cards and instruction books. I wish eBay had existed at the time because we stored stuff going back to 1890 or so.
Anyway, I'll shut up. Glad to be here and I hope I do not tick you off . . . I hold strong opinions.
Welcome abourd UHH. Lets see some of your art. You didn't post your location. Where you be. David in FT Lauderdale. If you want C & C then note that. If it's OK for people to mess with your pictures then note that too. Good luck. I like the truth.

Thanks a bunch.
I am in Salt Lake City, Utah. My art stinks and I have just started looking for a large scanner. I will soon start scanning some Kodachrome transparencies; they are all large format stuff made many moons ago. I am also planning to scan and print some of my dad's 35MM stuff. I am removing the coating due to scratches because I want the best quality. His filing system was not ideal; basically, "yeah, that drawer is half full, I'll toss them there."
Too bad Kodak stopped offering large Kodachrome stock, but any hope of that happening passed away long ago. So it is important to save them and make sure my great grandchildren have something to sell on eBay.
I would post a picture of myself, but I am as ugly as a boiled dragon.
OK Robert, You live in a buetiful part of the country. Moutains, rivers, nice looking buildings. Florida is flat and hard to find landscapes. Good luck with your dad's stuff. Time to capture some for yourself.

I will soon revive the Focomat and 45 MCRX. Lots of negatives to print. I wish there was room for an 8 x 10 enlarger, however.
I like Utah. Lots to photograph here. But I am also tired of Utah. There must be a happy balance . . . perhaps Maine?
Welcome Robert....love the history....

Thanks. It has been a very long trip. I wish I knew then what I know now. But I do not, so that's that.
Welcome Robert - there's a few of us on here that live in/near the home of Kodak - which is basically turned into a ghost town compared to what it once was. Kodak is going thru a restructuring thing right now trying to find a way to get profitable again, they waited too long to go digital relying too much on their past history with film. I think anyhow. Remember one thing Robert, thru a viewfinder you see a different world than you do with the naked eye. No matter where you are. Looking to see some shots of Utah on here.
Welcome, Robert, gee, if you go back to 1890, you are the oldest one here. Glad you are. Merry Christmas.
Welcome & tick away. We can take it. :)
