Here a sky, there a sky...

I have a whole bunch of these I am gradually processing, so you will all probably get bored... It was just such an amazing sky - especially since it was completely overcast when I left home!

Anything to avoid my inevitable trip to the laundramat this morning...

Bloke,

It is a good idea to keep a folder of various sky pattens, keep them in their natural state, direct out of the camera.
Later, when you have a good picture subject, but the sky is gray, or bald, or flat blue; you can insert one of your better skies into the good subject and make a much better picture.

Thanks. I do have a growing collection of skys/clouds. The changing sky fascinates me. I think I probably shoot more clouds than anything - except possibly trees!

Good work. Need to do something about the bright white sun spot though.

Do you mean the sun itself? I didn't want to tone that down too far. There is a small flare spot, just at the bottom of the trees. I wasn't sure the best way to take that out...

The partially cut sun in your image is a bright white area right at the edge of the image, adding up to 2 big No-Nos. The eyes just get dragged there all the time, interrupting the attention that should be paid to the other elements of your image. If you want the sun in the image, you should have the whole of it and more into the image. As it is, there are 2 options - crop it out and darken the edges to bring it more on par with the rest of the sky or fill the white with a faint yellow (less favourable of the two).
The flare on the grass can be easily cloned out.

Thank you for your comment. I really like the way the sun dominates that corner, though. It may break the rules, but it just gives the 'power'. I have a bunch of others which have the sun out of frame, but this one drew me to process it first. I could yellow it, but really, it was *white*. Dimming it down makes you wonder, just where is the light coming from that brings out the rest of the picture...
