Excellent work

I've done zoom while taking the exposure and it they didn't look like that!! Let me be the first to congratulate you on a job well done. Let me be the first to ask, how the heck did you do that? Part of the picture is zoomed and part of it isn't. The only thing I can think of is a double exposure and I didn't think you cold do what with dslr. So how???

Funny that you should post these. I was thinking about that technique the other day and thought I might give it a try. The last time I tried that technique I was watching Jackie Stewart drive a Tyrell Ford at the Nuerburgring. I was using a Nikon F and a push-pull 80-200 zoom which I still have. Nice attempt. I like the effect.

Thank you everyone for your comments. No double exposure. I have a zoom with a rotating zoom ring rather than a push pull. I am using a Canon T4i (in Live View) with a 24-105 F4L mounted on a tripod. The trick is to use a long enough exposure (2 sec +) to open the shutter and wait briefly before zooming so as to catch the main photo and then zoom for the effect. In case of the "Christmas Tree", I waited, zoomed, and then had enough time left to catch the final image. By the way, the bright light at the top of the tree is the moon.

You did a great job Artar! You also used a tripod...at least for some of them! You also did a nice job of explaining the procedure. It takes some practice as to how long to wait and how far to zoom, but a couple of attempts and you are off and running! Very nicely done! I do this too each year. It is a lot of fun and some neat effects come from it! Thanks for sharing! If you wish I will post a few.
