Some would call it overdone, I absolutely love those photos. To me, that is the artful side of HDR without the halos. Would love to find some tutorials by that guy.

Trey Ratcliffe doesn't use the same process as Bobby Bong here. This is what HDR looks like when you ditch the automated programs (Photomatix, SNS, Nik, etc) and just manually blend exposures in Photoshop. To me it's a cleaner, far more natural look, although Mr. Bong kind of goes overboard on the saturation a bit (and that 'people bathing in river' shot is a great example of why NOT to use a circular polarizer on a wide angle).
Here are some other manual blenders in case you're not yet 100% convinced it's better than Photomatix. :)
