Star of Bethlehem?

Actually, it's the planet Venus, but it was posing so nicely, I couldn't resist it... I spent a couple of hours going round the town, just shooting the homes with all the decorations...

I know they aren't the greatest, but I was having fun!

What do you mean "not the greatest"..., I get a thrill from seeing neighborhood lights. In fact...these aren't to shabby. Sharing in the Joy of Christmas is such a delight. Thanks Bloke...and Merry Christmas.

It is very prominent the last couple of days. Great photos. It appears to me that you live in a small town. Right or wrong?

The composition is good, the focus is sharp, and the exposure is more than acceptable. A lot of noise, but hey, it is night photography and I like the neighborhood shots, good Christmas stuff! Thanks for posting!

Thanks. I must admit, I do like the second one. I just managed to catch the sky while there was still something 'there'.

Yep, a fairly small town in South-central PA, not far from Gettysburg.

Yeah, the noise was a bit of a problem. I cleaned it up as much as I could in LightRoom, but my skills are not exactly up at the cutting edge. They were long exposures, shot on 'P' - I tried various manual variations, but the auto always came out looking the best! I think it pushed ISO up to 3200, which was probably the cause.

I came through another neigbourhood this evening, and there were some nice decorations there. Unfortunately, while we are milder than we have been for ages, it is raining off and on. If we get a clear but not too frigid evening I will go and get some more for the collection.

If your doing that hand held, my hat is off to you. I have to use a tri-pod to get anything worth while. Usually ISO 200, F8 and adjust the shutter speed till I get it. Also a cable release. And Yes, it does make it a bit of a pain! Christmas lights are difficult to say the least. Good luck and keep posting.

Sounds like a wonderful way to spend some time, and they look fantastic to me.
