Hi - I found your site through another email and am very excited to join your group. I have had a DSLR camera since Christmas 2007 and in 2010 after taking thousands of pictures my first DSLR camera started acting up and I was "forced" to upgrade to a new camera with a 70-300mm lens :) I do plan to share my nature pictures online in some forum very soon. I started seriously birdwatching in 2008 but was working full time and this became a weekend pastime. I volunteer at the Black Swamp Bird Observatory in Ohio and invite all of you to view the most beautiful warblers during the Biggest Week of American Birding in the first two weeks of May! I'll be there! thanks!

The black swamp is located in NW Ohio. Toledo Ohio in part is built on some of this land. The land was drained to make this possible. There is an area of it near
swanton, Ohio that is preserved as a metro park and is a great place for photography. I've photographed Indigo Bunting, scarlet tanangers, great crested flycatchers, eastern king birds and red headed woodpeckers there to name a few of the opportunities you'll find there. You will also fine a varity of warblers there during spring migration. The name of this park is Oak Openings

This park is also home to many rare botanicals and is where the karner blue butterfly is making a come back.

thanks for the warm welcome everyone! The Black Swamp is East of Oregon Ohio on Lake Erie. My favorite spot is the Magee Marsh boardwalk in the Spring because the warblers stop here to feed before heading across Lake Erie to their nesting grounds. you "can't shake a stick" without hitting a warbler in May! sometimes they are so close you have to back up to take a picture! check it out if you're able! lots of nice people on the boardwalk too. can't wait to spend time on your site! Merry Christmas! Karen

So as not to confuse anyone Oregon is just west of Magee Marsh wildlife refuse and the Black Swamp Birding Organization has an office located on the grounds of Magee Marsh. And yes there is a boardwalk where you can see warblers within arms length. Also to be seen are scarlet tanangers, ruby crowned kinglets and gold crowned kinglets, bald eagles, various hawks, trumpeter swans, mute swans. blue herons and green herons, egrets, verious types of ducks and seagulls and lets not forget the northern flickers and sapsuckers.

Next door to Magee Marsh is another wildlife refuse called Ottawa National Wildlife refuse and it to is well worth a visit.
