I have just received my Fuji x100s on Monday and am in love with this fantastic little camera. The only problem that I forsee is that it is very little. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket gizmo that will attach to the camera body that will help fill my hand a bit more and make me feel a bit more secure. I've notice a few attachments from China that screww into the tripod socket that look pretty close, but I want to be sure that I get something of quality.
The traditional rangefinder camera body shape (such as the Fuji x100s) calls for a different approach to holding during shooting, making the typical bulky camera grip as found on DSLRs rather unnecessary. From my experience with rangefinders, the best approach is to keep all of the camera's weight on the left hand, with this hand placed underneath the camera. The viewfinder's position on the camera makes this hold actually very comfortable, and the camera is more securely held than using an attached grip for the right hand, and is significantly more stable too. My right hand doesn't do much of anything when I shoot on rangefinders, other than activate the shutter button. All of the camera's weight rests on the left hand underneath.
I urge you to give it a try before buying a grip attachment. I think you will get used to holding the camera this way rather quickly, and find it extremely effective as well.
I'll certainly give it a try.

I have a grip that includes a bottom plate that adds lots of protection to my X100S. I don't use a case or any cover, just a wrist strap............I predominantly have the camera weight in my right hand because I use the back button to focus...........don't usually manually focus with my left hand.......
Here's a pic. It's a pretty high quality grip/plate that I got off eBay. I can dig out the information if you're interested.

Yes, I forgot to mention that I have a thumb rest also..........makes a big difference even if you don't use the grip...

I bought one of these for my X10 (similar size and shape) but took it off after a month or so. I found that it was partially blocking the mode dial and made the camera just a bit less "pocketable" (as was the hood and lens filter). That's when I was reminded of why I bought the darn thing in the first place - as a daily alternative to my big DSLR. I like it lean and clean (like my dad's old Konica C35).

Before buying anything, look at it carefully. I purchased an XPro-1 for my son with the hand grip accessory. It turns out that to change the battery or access the memory card you have to take the dang thing off. So unless you want to be driven crazy . . . . . . . .

GDRoth,
I would appreciate it if you could provide me with the name of the manufacturer or model# or the link to the online store. One more thing, do you need to remove the plate to access the battery/SD card ? How would you rate the quality ?
thanks, Ed
