I know I have to use aperture priority when I use my trusty canon fd-lenses with an adaptor on the canon 7d but what other settings are required. What F-stop is necessary for the lens. Thanks for the help

I have one FD lens.
I set the aperture on the lens.
For the camera (have used on Canon 20D and 30D), I use the manual mode.
Setting the ISO and Shutter.
As to what settings you should use, Google "Sunny 16 Rule" for manual settings and starting point. There are other related rules for clouds, heavy clouds, etc., that should turn up in your search.
I did not find "Sunny 16 Rule" in the FAQ section, here on UHH.
You will probably, have to make adjustments to "dial in" your final exposure for the light on that day.
If you have a handheld light meter, use it for your settings.
Hope this is helpful! Others will probably jump in and say it better.

i use all my fd lenses on my sony alphas, and with my adapter i have to shoot in manual only. i set the apature and use iso and ev wheel to deturmine shutter speed.
What adaptor should I use for Canon FD lenses to a Sony A3000.
I just found an extremely inexpensive new Sony A3000 and I would love to use it as my "FD" Camera.,
