Gorrillapod for SLR's

It says it can hold an SLR and lens up to 6.6lbs. Does anyone have one of these? There are so many times when I'd like stabilzation but don't have time or don't want to bother setting up a tripod.

I own one, but haven't felt brave enough to risk a SLR on it.

This one is different than the original (which I also have) - says it is made for SLR's.

Thank you. I think I will spend the $50 and order one after reading that review!

And I see that Admin, instead of actually READING the opening post, just saw a link there so moved this away from Main Discussion.

Where nobody else will see it.

Yes there is an 11 pound model called, GorrilaPod Focus, for DSLR. Found it on Amazon for $100.64 with Joby ballhead.
Positive reviews.

Hello, I have one of these but I would only trust it on a flat surface, and I would make sure one leg was directly underneath the lens. I have tried wrapping the legs round poles etc but I find it is not that secure and hold it with one hand as well. I have an Olympus E-PL1 which is no where near the weight of a SLR.
Also when not in use the tripod is quite bulky, so overall it was not one of my best buys although I do use it occasionally.

I own one. Use from time to time successfully with a Canon SX50. Have a friend who used with a Canon 5D. They work good if you're careful when fastening

Thank you all for your replies. I am going to get one, but it certainly won't replace my tripod.

It is - just - possible to dispense with the ball head by bending the legs to the desired position, but very tricky, and small adjustments are very awkward. If you get one, get a ball head as well if you don't already have one.
I second concerns about using a dslr on one on anything other than a flat surface.
