December Seventh, Ninteen Forty-One

No American around my age (80) can forget that terrible December morning 72 years ago; and, via shortwave radio, hear our nation enter into the most terrible war in history (so far). No American my age can visit the Pearl Harbor memorial site without shedding a tear, for at that spot we can see the great ship's hulk beneath the water, and feel the presence of the 1,100 souls who perished there. No American my age can forget the greatest generation; their courage, sacrifice, their gift of their very lives.

Today I cannot help but compare the spirit of America then to the America of today, and I shed another tear. I recall a more recent day, when our beloved nation sustained the murder of more than 3,000 innocent citizens; not through an act of war like Pearl Harbor but through a vile act of cowardice, and I feel anger. This anger still grows in me as I view our lack of response to this sinister force: Bengazi, Egypt, Somalia, and all the other places where attacking our innocents invokes no consequences; while the distain shown our fighting forces by the flacks and self-seekers within our government has become a political agendum.

Times change, don't they?

"the greatest generation"... sounds crazy, but I think
you are right.

Now the packaging is worth more than the product... sometimes
literally as well as figuratively.

Incompetence is considered a virtue.

The largest organised crime syndicates are commonly
the police force and the magistrates and judges can't or wont recognise the truth when it is staring them in the face.

Don't get me started on political correctness.

I admire Australia's response to Arab immigrants' demands that the nation honor their "culture," particularly their Sharia Law (sp). Essentially, Australia told them where to stick it, and invited them to leave forthwith if they could not obey the laws of the nation who was giving them the sanctuary of a free country. I wish the U.S. had the guts to do this, and I fear the consequences of our inaction. :|
