i use cs6 for editing my photos. but it doesn't seem to work so well when I have hundreds of photos that just need straightened or sharpened a bit. please don't make fun - but I am using picasa 3 right now ;) but I am thinking I can upgrade. I like the sliders. any suggestions? lightroom the next thing to get?
Lightroom is what I use and it will do most everything needed.

I've spent many dollars on pp software and I think I use Picasa for most of my general prints. If they are really special I then go to PSE 12 which for me does it all more easily than many of the others.

OnOne Photo Suite 8 is pretty good too

Yes you can batch process in Lightroom work on the first picture then choose the other pictures then hit synch

Best thing for batch processing by far is DxO Optics Pro, but AFAIK you will always have to straighten by hand.
I use ACDSee Pro 7 ... for my purposes it is the best ... I do not do any fancy work ... minimal exposure adjustments, some cropping and re-size for e-mail for the web. It is very reasonably priced. I tried PhotShop and, to me, was overwhelming ...I am 85 y.o. and slowing mental processes :-))

I like your 1959 FORD. I use Picasa 3 TOO...

Sorry, I couldn't resist:
<snark>
"need straightened": I use my eye and hands, and viewfinder guide lines if necessary.

Seriously, I think we'd all be somewhat better photographers if we didn't use post processing as a crutch. "I'll fix it later" is one of the worst things a photographer can say, because it usually means they know they could fix it before taking the shot, but it would take some effort.
Ok, I'm done with the snark and ranting. Those who use pp software will give you the real advice you are looking for.
