Sense I quit hunting with my handguns 20 years ago I haven't seen one this nice. Unfortunately someone hit it with their vehicle and left it. I found it laying in the weeds off a dirt road I go down at times and had to call the State Police to have it put down. I couldn't leave him there suffering. fortunately the trooper that came out was a hunter and she agreed with me.

Here is one of the photos I took while waiting for the trooper. One of the first photos taken using a new Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro lens.

C&C welcome as usual. Do with it as you please.

It is a nice deer, but its a messy snapshot, which might suit an injured animal trying to hide while it recovers. Life and death is messy sometimes.

Damn Shame but it happens a lot.

The photo has too much clutter in front to have any chance at being anything more than a snapshot. I'm not sure you could have done anything to make it better.

Dave,

There really wasn't. This poor thing was hurting and I didn't want to disturb it. I actually regretted posting it after I did but it was a nice looking buck. Life can be cruel at times.

The only satisfaction I really got from this is knowing the trooper was a hunter and she was taking it back to the barracks where there were other hunters, so I know the deer would not go to waist. That, plus it was put out of its misery.

Lighthouse,

unfortunately there was no chance of this buck recovering. If there had been I would have had the trooper close off the road for a couple of days. Crap happens, I could not see letting it suffer.

Not sure it is an improvement but it's a change.

Lee,

It is a start. It does need more work though. I will play with it as I have time, thanks.

I spent about an hour on this shot this morning. Hope this is better.

C&C welcome.
