The Palace of Fine Arts was built around 100 years ago for San Franciscos 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. It was not to be a permanent structure and a few years back it became in need of repair. Thanks to private donations it was renovated to its original splendor and preserved for future generations. We owe a big thank you to all donors. If you never have been there, the structure is huge, check the images I tried to include some humans so you can compare.
The last image is a scan from a 40 year old negative, there might be some grain visible.

Mike that is one grand place and glad that they saved it for future generations.
Thank you very much for your comment, it's greatly appreciated. I think it is more or less one of a kind out here. I have the original official booklet of the Exposition with 150 pictures. The only thing that changed on the Palace is the Vegetation.
I love your beautiful pictures of the Palace of Fine Arts.

Excellent shots, and love the night view. I've seen the place used in an number of movies, as well.

Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, movies and also for weddings, makes a great background for the pictures. The night shot was made some time ago they lightened the Palace up for the fundraiser, I used an old Rolleicord.
