Hello, I live in MO, about 30 mi. west of St. Louis. I'm just starting this adventure and beginning to learn about aperture, ISO, shutter speed etc. I must admit it seems very overwhelming right now. I have to wonder if I'll ever "just know" how to set my camera for creative photos. There's so much to learn about the camera itself, let alone what to do (settings) for different kinds of shots. I can't wait until I know what I'm doing so I can dive in. I have a very new Canon Rebel T3i camera. It came with a 18-55mm lens. I also have a 50mm, f2.8 and my wonderful husband got me a 70-200mm, f4.0 lens. Unfortunately it's been so darn cold outside I haven't been able to play with it much. I go to Anchorage, AK several times a year and can hardly wait to take shots of the scenery and wildlife.
I've enjoyed looking at other member's photos on the site and really appreciate when the camera settings/lens are shared. It helps me to learn, so Thanks to those that do so.
I hope to be sharing soon :D

Welcome to the UH...your off to a great start. Maybe post a shot or 2 when you can :)
Welcome. Alaska in winter should give you lots of experience with light and white snow. LOL

Hi! I'm new to here too.
I have the same camera and love it. My husband bought me the Tamron 18-270 lens and I love it. I use it all the time. It's great for close up and great for futher away. I love it when I go hiking. Use to bring a 300mm lens but it doesnt' work when the deer pops out in front of you. No time to change. But with this Tamron....no need to bother changing.
I too have tons to learn all the things you mentioned. I'm not grasping the idea of it yet. But hope to soon.
I've been a point and shoot gal.
Hi Sarge,
I've been there in the winter. I'm holding out until Spring :) WAY too cold right now!
