This lighthouse was first built in 1827. It collapsed soon after. The mortar was mixed with salt water. In 1835 it was built again. This time using fresh water. Nearly 180 years later it is still standing. Over 100,000 visitors were here last year. It is located in Bristol, Maine.

Very nice images! Interesting story. Thanks.
Very interesting and informative. I do like your photograph of "Bug Light" Portland Breakwater Lighthouse.
Plymouth, I love your #2 and 33 shots here. The lighting just takes you right into the scene. FYI...You have your location in 32 listed as "Portland, Ma." Ma. is the 2 letter postal code for Massachusetts. Me. is the code for Maine.

Thanks Leicaflex,
There is so much history on the east coast. I found this interesting. I'm glad you found it interesting as well.
Bug Light is my favorite. What gorgeous lighting and color.

Hi Roco,
Thank you for your comments.
This was our (my wife and I) first trip to the New England states. What a joy it was. Great people, fantastic food and more photo opportunities then one could ask for. Thanks for the FYI. You are correct. Speaking of Massachusetts...we also spent some time in Boston. Do those people love their city? "Boston Strong". Thanks again and have a great day.

Hi Linda,
Thank you for your kind words. I would go back to Maine in a heartbeat. One of the best vacations that I have had. Even the policeman who gave me my first ticket in thirty eight years was kind. But that's another story. :) Maine reminded me of my home Portland, Oregon. You are correct when you say it is a beautiful state.
