Went for a walk on the beach today and took some photo's. I would appreciate comments on how to improve these shots.
I think you are only supposed to post one photo at a time in that section. Too much to comment on.... I do think most of them are very pretty, but #1 needs straightening on the horizon and it might be interesting to see if there is any detail at all in the dark shadows of the dock.

Nice one's juliag..perhaps using a filter to damp down the glare might help.

I think you may be referring to the photo critique and analysis forum Heirloom, not the gallery here. This reminded me of bungalow holidays as a kid in Jaywick Sands and walking to Clacton along the front.................... happy days, thanks for the memory.

Very nice scenery, but way too over exposed, on the beach photos. The pier photos are a difficult range of light with which to capture. Extreme in the background with the sun and shade under the pier and pilings.
It would be nice to see the exposure data for these images.

Straighten the horizons in the first two. Bring out the detail in the shadows of the next two. The sun glare and reflection doesn't really bother me because that's the way it looks in real life. It can be hard on the eyes. I love the colors of the water scenes.
These featureless seascape shots are difficult to crit as the pure 'openness' is the attraction of them - but they don't hold the viewers interest for long. I'm always tempted to take a shot like this, then wonder why afterwards! As soon as you include the pier, interest value increases. Back to the seashore - I think the highlights are burned-out and may have required an ND filter to improve, but it's not a major distraction due to the type of shot. I last visited Clacton around 1953!
