Thanks Judy, The colors and feather patterns are what draws me to them.

Those are fantastic Jim!
I have been watching ducks myself for a couple of weeks here.
We have the greater and lesser scaup which are similar in appearance to your ringnecks. The scaup will occasionally get fairly close.
The hooded mergansers get not quite as close and the buffleheads are almost totally uncooperative.

Really good pictures. Love the hooded Mergansers. We get no Scaups or Mergansers out here in Vista. Povdov

I got to see some Harlequin ducks. It was a rare sighting to the area. I went back to get more pictures but never seen them again. Then recently read in the paper that hunters had killed them! I was so upset! To kill such a rare sighted duck was just sickening to me. Others never got to enjoye looking at them. So sad. I'm not against hunters but these ducks were rare to the area and I'm betting they knew that too.

I use to hunt but no more. As we get older life becomes more meaningful and important. Strange but I couldn't kill an animal if I tried. povdov

I know quite a few people who were hunters, myself included, that once you start shooting with a camera instead of a gun, you never want to kill again. Something about looking in the eyes and then seeing those eyes over and over on the printed product takes precedence over seeing it on the dinner table. These are all very nice photos of beautiful animals!
