You actually gave us a lot of information to work with. The simple answer about the Nikon df is "if you have to ask, it isn't right for you." But, since you're asking, it also indicates that you aren't a photo-nerd.

While the question of repairing the D80 sounds good, it is a 7 year old camera, and the image quality has improved significantly in that time. But certainly check with Rick to see if that is the best option.

Then the question is whether the D80 meets your needs, or if you often wish you could do something but you feel limited by the camera. If the D80 has worked well for you, then look at the D3200 or D5200. Basically, if you didn't do much special with the D80, the D3200 is for you. If you pushed the D80 at least a little, the D5200 is good. There has to be something significant about your photography for anything more expensive being appropriate for you.

Not really.

They dont have the retro style of the Df, lacking
the handy easy to read large dials on top of the body.

That is a very attractive feature.

If your post read "And" instead of "Or" I could

FYI the Df has the D4 sensor and the D800 processor.
