My camera is a Sony alfa 550. I have been using it with a Tamron 28-300 lens, which I have it for many years.
All of the sudden now my camera is showing a message:
No lens attached
Shutter is locked
This happens only in AF , I can still use it in manual.
This condition does not happen with the A65. could it be that one is SLR and the other an SLT? ....I will appreciate your help. Thanks.
Just a guess, but are any of the contacts broken or missing?
No, everything is in good shape...the camera is two years old and always kept in a safe place.
Beyond my knowledge then.

Best guess...clean the contacts on both the lens and the camera. See:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-36138-1.htmlIf that doesn't work then it is time to bring/send it in for repair. Good luck
Thank you, I will try the lens cleaning solution. I hate to send it in. I have no warranty.
I used the lens cleaner....it worked
Is working fine.
Thanks a lot
Thank you to all....with the lens cleaner is working ok.
Would never have guessed cleaning a lens had that much power...lol. Learn something new everyday.

When it comes to electronic equipment in general, cleaning contacts works wonders. The electronics depends on two things being available, volts and amps, (in the camera's case milliamps or even microamps) and little resistance, (from the battery compartment or across contacts, 0 ohms or no resistance). The modern equipment today can function on very little amps, hence saving battery power. But the slightest amount of crap on the contacts will increase the resistance in the circuit and drop the amps below and acceptable level, thus affecting how accurate it works or if it works at all. So make it a regular practice to keep the contacts clean even if the camera seems fine.
Contacts eventually form a thin film of oxide. If the camera is OK with another lens, then you know that it is the ol'standby lens causing the problem. Check the lens on a different camera... all alphas fit. Of course you have done this with the Sony 65.
If you believe that it is a contact problem, then start the contact cleaning process simple and delicate using a bit of brown paper sack to rub the contacts. (backed with some thing to stiffen) An alternate more aggressive approach would be corcus cloth used for automotive relay contacts, usually available at auto parts stores. Truly a detective story.
I wouldn't want the grit from crocus cloth near my camera. The protective plating can be worn with the abrasive making the camera more prone to problems in the future.
Taking the lens on and of a few times could polish the contacts. Less is more when it comes to cleaning.

You do not give enough information. Try different lenses, and it should be easy to figure out what the problem is.

The camera got smart and realized that it wasn't much of a lens. LOL.
Seriously, clean the contacts on the lens and camera.
