I don't know the best way to enhance this photo...the birds just blend in with the back ground....any editing or instruction would be very much appreciated!

I think I would run outside and take a picture of a lawn or some other grassy area, then isolate the birds in photoshop and try placing them. It is a great bird image and deserves the extra work.

Hi,, just joined this site today, I downloaded this pic and did some processing, added contrast and reduced the brightness, there is so much similarity in shade, white to light gray, also did some sharpening though it probably really didn't need much as it was very sharp to begin with. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, so take it with a grain, just my opinion.. John L

Thanks John, I appreciate the effort, it just might be one of those shots that can't be fixed! LOL....That was my issue from the get go...there just isn't enough contrast between the birds and the gravel behind them...

If you have photoshop then carefully mask the birds then
choose select
then inverse inverse
and darken the background

I don't have photoshop either, I'm a bit of a purist, I want to work with the picture I captured and make exposure adjustments, contrast being my favorite. I use Capture Nx2, but sparringly as it just sucks computer memory. There is a free program which you can download photoscape, which can really add punch to your photos.

Here is what I have done to make the birds stand out in just a few minutes. I used levels to adjust the black areas of the image and then I burned in a little more on the background areas. If you are using Photoshop Elements or a version of Photoshop this will work. Hope this helps

My main issue with this picture is the bird in the foreground,,,his bill gets lost among the back ground...I think it may just be a lost cause...oh well, I will have more opps...thanks to all for your efforts.

 Sorry to hear that you had to mention that you don't have Photoshop on almost every response . . .LOL

Simple contrast adjustments help bland images the best. There are free softwares that can assist in this: Picasa is one. I know there is a free Zoner Photo Studio out there somewhere that has more bells and whistles. There is a thread here on UH that has a list of them.
