Today marks the 50 year anniversary of JFK's assassination. Do you remember where you were when you heard the news? I was in the 5th grade and at school when they made the announcement.
This photo of JFK is not mine. It belonged to a coworker that back in the early 1990's wanted me to attempt to restore it. His grandfather which was in the Secret Service at the time is walking along side of the car that JFK is riding in. I took a photo of the picture back then and just recently found the negative.
To the best of my Google search I think this is in Youngstown, Ohio
I was a freshman in high school, a teacher from another class walked in and whispered it to our teacher who was teaching class, then he made the announcement, our President was shot in Dallas...remember it like it was yesterday.
I was in Mrs. Smith's 10th grade English class... One of those memories that is clear as a bell.
I was 22 years old and working on a construction site in England when the news came over the transistor radio we always had playing - everybody was in total shock.
My Senior year in high school - in the school auditorium practicing with my Speech class when the loudspeaker came on with unrecognizable noise. Teacher sent me to the office to find out what was going on and when I came back I told the class that the President had been shot and killed. Will never, ever forget that day.
As to the photo - great clarity and an often unseen portrait of JFK. Thanks for sharing.
machine shop, junior year, our teacher came in pale faced, and had the principal turn the radio on through the intercom, too bad, he was one of our best
