There are several good free programs to make movies from still shots.

I can't remember the name of the one I used, but a quick Bing will lead you to plenty! :-)

I have tried doing time lapse. I found a good youtube tutorial by Gavin Hoey. Here is the link

He uses lightroom 3 to stitch the stills together. There is a link for a lightroom preset to convert to 24 frames per sec. video. I am a novice at using lightroom, but I found it pretty easy to do.

Also, this is a plug for lightroom. If you don't have it, look into it. It is a real good program for organizing picture files and making adjustments/corrections.

On my Nikon D7000 its called interval mode. Check your menu or manual for interval shooting.
