Just thought I would post for some feedback. I usually just look at other's posting:)
Egret at sunset
Good for you for dipping your toe in the water! This is a very lovely image, soft colors and a pleasing pose.
Nice shot. I love the background you captured. It gives the image peaceful quality.
Nice image, like the background (soft)

Ok, I would love to know how you guys get these... I tried yesterday, and was rubbish! I have an SX50, but with the full extension of the magnificent zoom, I couldn't keep the birds in the frame long enough to shoot them! The closer they were - so filling the frame better - the harder they were to follow...
I know I need to use manual focus, which I didn't do yesterday, but there has to be more to it than that. I will post a couple here - the rest are too embarrasing! I would appreciate it if anyone can identify the bird from these awful shots.
I tried setting the camera to take a string of shots, but it was too slow - plus the viewfinder doesn't show what you are looking at after the first shot, so it is impossible to follow the flight path.
I know the camera is capable of much better than this, because I have seen quite a few sx50 posts on here, but I am not doing something right.
Be gentle... :?

Thank you, I thought it came out nice although I had to crop a little bit.

You may want to post this in your own thread so that you can receive some critique and advice on your pics.

My apologies to Linda; I did not intend to hijack your thread in any way. I just thought I was contributing to the 'conversation'. Sorry...

Yes, it is inappropriate to hijack onother thread, but we'll forgive you as it is your first post here.
The first and third shots appear to be Red-tailed Hawk, one of the most common of our hawks, nationwide.
I don't own an SX50 but doesn't it have what they call "Zoom Framing Assist"? That allows you to zoom out to locate the subject and then automatically zoom in and track your subject as it moves around.
Hopefully, someone with experience with that particular camera will offer some advice.
