It is a very evocative composition. IMHO I would have liked the really light areas of the wall just darkened down a little.

And loving the new avatar

Carlysue, that drab ignored wall coveys the life of the man that sets alone before it. The lines in the blocks carries the eye across the print like silk, from left to right, only to land my attention on that poor lonely soul in the foreground. Pictures don't have to be pretty, they need to speak, and this one screams at us to respond. Great human interest and emotional appeal. The choice of B&W was also appropriate for the subject and message. Well shot and well edited. :):)

Thanks, Wonky. I am wondering about that area as well..seems there was a bit of graffiti there that was white-washed over so a lot lighter than the white brick. I'll try a little dodge/burn here.
Thanks for loving the avatar. Its much more recent as the feather was starting to droop with age.

I've been looking forward to your next post, well worth waiting on. As always, you manage to get to the heart and twist it a little. Of course life is like that, and you managed to show the harshness, and the lonely reality that so many face. Keep up the good work Carly, and God bless!

Phil

Your response raises an important question about photography itself.

Does a truly great photographer see images with his or her eye? Is it not rather with the heart? The heart speak a different language. The camera is only the means to that end, to let it be heard. Your photographs seem to know what to say that not many are able to articulate. Keep 'speaking' like that, and the world won't able to ignore you. :)
