18-140 or 18-200

I need to konw if an 18-140mm vr or an 18-200 vr2 is a better choice for my d7100. I don't think I will need the extra reach of the 200. As the 140 is new there arn't many reviews as of yet. Does any one have a good comparison of the two lenses. Thanks in advance

Bit off your question, but ..... I loved the 18-200--sold it to get the 18-300. Only issue I had was the lack of a zoom lock but I think they corrected it with the VR2 version.

I shoot with a D7100 & D7000 and looked at the 18-200mm. The 18-140mm was not out at the time. I ended up comparing the 18-200 to the 16-85, and the 16-85 won. Very sharp and well built. Like you, I would love to see some comparisons with the new 18-140mm sounds like a good lens.

I have the 18 - 200 VRII and I truly love the lens. If you're going to spend the money, the extra reach, especially on the D7100 with 1.3 crop is worth the difference in cost. And even if you don't need the reach often, surely a situation will present itself where the extra reach is worth it.
