Abandoned truck on an old abandoned homestead. Just caught my eye for some reason. Tried to remove the power pole but couldn't do so without leaving evidence behind, might try it again later when I have more patience.

If you have CS5 try the "content aware fill" , I tried on your pic and it did a very nice job of removing the pole

Thanks for the suggestion, but CS5 is well beyond my reach, would rather put that kind of money in another lens or body.

Reminds me of my favorite hobby. Driving my ford out into the country and listening to chevys rust.
Interesting pic.

Thanks Patriot.
Last time I was in Elko we had to be evacuated from the old hotel we were in, seems the top floor had caught fire at 3 AM! LOL

What year is that? My dad had his dad's old 46 Chevy truck.... now my brother has it and fixed it all up. Can't beat an ol' Chevy. Giggles***

Well hello again!!
I really don't know what year it is, I had to shoot it from the rear because someone had scavenged most of the front end off of it. I think its a 1937 though.

Looks good!

One thing to try with that pole is to just cut a strip right beside the pole and move it over....make sure it's feathered...

Thanks for the suggestion, tried that, but didn't work well with the tree in the background. I just need to take the time and get down and dirty and get it done, the tree presents the only real complication to removing the pole for me, and if it was a digital shot taken in RAW it would be easier. Its a scan of an old Kodak negative so it just is a bit labor intensive. I will find the time one of these cold winter days!

Ok...the cutting of the strip didn't work as well as I thought it would but I DID try and use the healing brush on it (From PSE 10) and that worked like a charm.

PSE 9 is only 75.00....it's worth every penny.

I have PSE 9, just tried the healing brush on it. The residual noise was worse than the pole itself. Went into Capture NX2 and got it cleaned up nicely in less than 15 minutes using the cloning tool and carefully selecting sources. I think it came out pretty good myself.

Power pole removed with Capture NX2

What I love about UHH is reading posts like this. A friend thinks I should go straight to photoshop and I'm reluctant to take that on. it's nice to see what can be done with PSE for much less money. I haven't bought my first dslr yet and there is so much good info about camaras, lenses, PP software... love it. What an education.

PSE wouldn't take the pole out of my pic without leaving evidence, the shot was just too complicated with the tree in the background. After spending a couple hours on it I gave up. I downloaded a free trial of Nikons Capture NX2 and did the job in only a few minutes. Each software has its weak and its strong points. I have Photoshop 5.0 also, but its outdated and way too expensive to update. I am going to but the Capture NX2 though, but not before my free trial runs out after Xmas. Good luck

I just decided to see if I could assist you in the pole removal and now I see you have it completed already. I use PhotoShop 7 and really can't afford to update right now since I am no longer employed but here is my shot at getting the pole out of your shot.

Thanks Ricontech,
I am in the same boat with my old Photoshop 5.0, upgrades don't exist for these old programs, you have to buy all new. I would much rather sink my hard earned dollars into better equipment than software that I can get something just as good as for hundreds or even thousands of dollars less money. Or even for free in many cases. My copy of PSE 9 was included free when I bought my Nikon D7000, its a pretty good program but does have many shortcomings, as do they all. If Adobe would just sell CS5 for around $200 they would drive all the wannabes off the market and have probably 90% of the PP business all to themselves! Seems like a doable project to me, but then, Adobe is all about the money so it will never happen.
