Guess what happens on January 15th at approximately 9pm on the east coast? I'm going for a time lapse of the horizon. I will be using my 7100 with a 35mm 1.8g.

Anyone else care to call their shot?

Let's see some updates!

Oliver, are you going to shoot the moon from a spaceship 50 miles from the moon? I hope so because that is the only way your 35mm will give you a moon with detail. If you are shooting from earth, anything under 400mm will likely disappoint you. You could perhaps borrow or rent a long telephoto if the shot is important to you and you do not care to buy one.

I'll be going for a landscape. I like the moon for composition and light. I don't shoot for detail.

OK Oliver, now I see what you are after. Nice shot on page 1. I believe you have answered your own question. If the 35mm gave you what you wanted in that shot, it should certainly do it again.

I saw your moon but was really interested in your profile pic of the Black lab ? I have one of my own that was a shelter dog and helped me recover from a bad back injury.

Labs are the best! Mine is 7 years young and a real pussycat. A real couch potato. So gentle yet so protective...

Couch potato

They are the best. They and golden retrievers. If only someone could come up with a no shed pill for labs it would be wonderful.

You can do a google search on just about anything you want to photograph and you will get a wealth of ideas and suggestions, too.

I am hoping for a shot in the morning of the rising new moon.
It's not looking good.
