I have gone thru the manual and I'm either missing it or it isn't there. I want to set the camera to Adobe RGB instead of sRGB. Can this be done with the SX50 and if so where do I find it to change it?

Adobe RGB and SRGB are designations of color spaces used when printing a picture. You could designate them through the printer drivers in your editor. They would not be found in your camera.
Thank you for your quick response. I was reading photo book on exposure and it said for the most colors to set the camera from sRGB to Adobe RGB that's why I was trying to find out how to do it on the SX50 camera. I'm going to try shooting in RAW with the camera for first time and want to get the most colors that I can get.

I don't have that camera but the best way to find out if the camera has a certain feature is to download the pdf manual from the Canon website and then use the search feature. If you just searched sRGB or Adobe then you'd find it, or not, in seconds without having to page through your paper manual. Or, you could search color space.

If you shoot in raw ,it does not matter what color space you use.You can decide the color space when you process your picture. If you use jpg then go to the function button and pick vivid as you color space
Thanks for the tip. I will try that. I did print off the PDF Manual all 287 pages of it. But did not find it when going thru it.

I do have the color set to vivid.

Ouch! Adjust color in PP, not the camera.

I have that camera and it cannot be set to Adobe RGB as many of the DSLR's can. But if you shoot in RAW just specify Adobe RGB as your color space.

No, you won't find this setting on most cameras of this type.
Adobe RGB does give you more colours but you really have to know what you are doing in post processing.
That's why you don't find it on cameras designed for the 'amateur'.
My advice, don't even look for it. Stay with sRGB.
I got given an SX50 recently for my birthday, it's a really neat flexible little machine and with its long zoom, I think,
is the best travel camera I've ever owned.
If you want the best results, just shoot RAW.
My only criticism, so far, is the dial button is easy to hit by mistake and its so light (after my D300s), I have trouble holding it steady.
Other than that its fun, flexible within its limitations and gets pictures that I might otherwise miss.
Cheers

There's ways to hold it steady! You get used to it. Welcome to the SX 50 club, and happy shooting!
How do you keep the SX50 steady. I have a hard time. I use a monopod.
Thanks Michelle

I do it 2 ways. One is the monopod. It works well in some situations.
The second is that I use velcro to attach an eyepiece to the viewfinder. Seems to work well for me when hand holding the camera.
I find it hard to steady the Canon SX50Hs also. I am getting into bird watching. Are there any bird watchers on this site. I would like to know what settings you use on your camera. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank You. Michelle
