I have been contemplating ordering a 2 camera strap from Black Rapid, but the $130 price tag has been a sticking point. I just found a 2 camera sling strap system from OpTech, an AMERICAN company whose regular Pro straps I have used for 30 years, At $39.95 List, and only $32.95 with FREE shipping from B&H, another trusted source, I am thinking this is almost too good to be true!
I was wondering if anyone out there has this OpTech strap for a field review. I will probably order it anyway but would appreciate some experienced input.
Thanks in advance.
Here is a link to the strap if anyone is interested in looking at it.

I've handled the optec straps at the photos show, very nice in general, I like and use several optec products though not any straps, I was handed a very similar strap for free from smugmug, otherwise I probably would have bought from optec. Bob.

My personal preference is the Tamarac straps for a couple of reasons: they have a snap device located about 3" above the D rings for quickly removing the strap altogether and they have a neoprene pad that spreads the weight over the neck and shoulder area thus allowing for very comfortable camera carrying. I rarely carry two cameras at once so the OpTech strap would be of no advantage to me. Last night I was covering a Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and there were close to 400 people in the hotel hallways and the ballroom so carrying a camera at my side would have been an impossibility. The speaker was the President of Sikorsky Aircraft, what a company! Great speaker too.

I don't have the double one though that might come in handy. I do however, have the single strap OpTech on each camera. I also put one on my lens case. I really love the strap.

I like the base that Carry Speed uses to attach the strap to the camera. Much better than the Black Rapid screw that will not allow you to quickly attach the camera to a monopod/tripod ... Should check it out.

OpTech stuff is very high quality. I've used it for years. On the other hand I don't especially like neoprene neck straps, so that's one of the few things they make that I don't use.

Having tried a number of two-camera straps (i.e, two cameras on one strap) I have come to the conclusion that in any case I prefer two separate straps. My wife covers cases and straps for Shutterbug magazine, so we get to see plenty of all types!

Cheers,

R.

I have the R-7 from Rapid and I love it. I am not a fan of having a strap around my neck. Having it over you shoulder with the camera resting on my side under my arm rather then bouncing out front. Less chance of it getting bumped under arm.

Just bought the cotton carrier system. So far so good I like the idea
Of the camera being locked in one place. It holds two cameras I can carry
My d300 with my 300 2.8 and my d7000 with the 18 -200 with no problems. Had the black rapid gave it away love the cotton carrier.

Optech versus Black Rapid. For me it would be the Optech with the uniloop connectors. I looked at the Black Rapid that has the connector that screws into the bottom of the camera. Had visions of it coming loose and camera hitting the floor. Probably wouldn't happen until I bought one.

Been using my Black Rapid for a couple of years. Love it.
1. Attaching to the tripod hole is probably as strong or stronger than the camera's neck strap attachments.
2. I screw the Black Rapid screw until the rubber washer compresses a little. I've never had the screw loosen in the least.
3. Normally, attach a Markins quick-release plate into the camera. Then screw the Black Rapid screw into the plate. I can then quickly switch from the Black Rapid strap to my tripod or monopod.
Warning: Some people use non-Black Rapid screws (e.g. Manfrotto). This is unwise since the "ring" on these screws is not made to support a camera. The "ring" can come off and your camera can ungracefully fall off.

I like the way you describe it. "Ungracefully." Perfect.

I've been using the Black Rapid double strap for over two years now and I love it. You can carry two bodies all day long with no discomfort. The mount is very secure and no weight on your neck. Would never go back to using two singles again!

Looks like there is no one out there that has used the OpTech Double Sling as I inquired about. Will have to order one and just use it I guess.
Also, it kind of amazes me how many people have to chime in with opinions on things that have nothing to do with a specific question when asked.
