First PhotoShop try

Here is my 1st try at photoshop elements. Didn't really have to doo too much but had a chance to touch a few of the controls. Just got software yesterday and really need to pour through some of the tutorials and put some more time tinkering.

Looks nice color is sharp. Was the corners being dark intentional? Has a nice effect.

That's the ONLY way to learn the program ..... touch as many of the controls as you can, just to see what they can do. Some you will like, some you will never touch again. Elements as "photoshop lite" has almost all the tools you could ever ask for, and probably more that are arcane and you will never use. I started out with PSE3, bought every new version within weeks of their debut, and am on the verge of adding PSE12 to the tool box.

fiddling is good, but look at learning specific tasks too. google things like "sharpening in pse" you will get at least three different methods and hopefully a discussion on when to use each one. also when you decide what you want to achieve with your picture do a quick search and get pointers and alternatives. PSE is a big programme and you can quickly get complacent and use 20% whilst ignoring the other 80% . I went from pse 8 - pse 11. only a few upgrades + lots of presets for what i could do manually before. Its worth exploring before spending. Having said that I would definitely get the best programme out there before it goes cloud based.

Well, hanks everyone for tips. I was once very profecient in Corel and got quite stale because I used just a few functions for few years. It seemed easier path to jump on the elements bandwagon and work directly in raw. Corel does have raw capability but, it's not native.
