I was wondering if anyone has this lense and if so what do you think of it?

Played with it a couple of times. Hoping Santa leaves it under my tree. One way or another, I will get it.
I have the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S....
Its a great piece of glass. Auto focus is fast enough and hasnt disappointed me. I've used Nikkor, Minolta (old days), Olympus, Sigma, Quantaray, Tamron, and even J.C. Penney glass (still keep it as proof) and have to say that Nikkor has been the most reliable and efficient.
Hope this helps some.

I've had one for a month now and love it. Great for indoors and fast moving grand kids. Gives me a lot of DOF flexibility at half the cost of the f/1.4.

Me too with the grandkids. I'm looking for a faster lense than what I have right now.
Thanks aammatj.
I have both the 50 f1.8G AFS lens and the 35 f1.8 G AFS lens. Both fast and very sharp wide open. Both renders pleasing bokeh! I am a DX shooter so I prefer the 35 over the 50.

I just bought this from B&H. Haven't had a chance to shoot anything with it. It's a lot bulkier than I thought. I bought the 50mm AF f1.8 a few weeks back. Nice and compact, but no AF on my D5100. I was also surprised that it takes 58mm filters & not 52mm.
It is sharp, fast and an excellent piece of glass.
I shoot indoor basketball games with it regularly and get outstanding results. Also great as a travel lens for shooting inside European churches. Well worth the money.

The one for the Nikon D5100 is: AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8G
I just purchased one. I performed an outdoor shoot with it. Besides my 300mm, i think its great!
