Hello,
I use Pentax K5 and K20 Cameras and I rarely shoot at an ISO higher than 400 because of the noise. What Noise Reduction Software would you recommend for reducing noise without making the image soft? I need the image to remain SHARP or is that asking to much of software and all of the software reduce the image sharpness? I know that sharpness is very subjective and that what some people call sharp might be soft to someone else. I am pretty critical of my images and I like for them to be very sharp. Thanks in advance for your help.

I use nik dfine or topaz De Noise but like any thing else the have limits. If you use them blow up and watch the screen.
I've been impressed with Lightroom 5 (LR5). This edit tool has lots of great uses of which noise reduction is just one aspect. I also have the Topaz DeNoise module that is much more powerful and what I use for issues that Canon DPP and LR5 cannot handle. I picked Topaz initially after reading comments here on UHH and reading industry reviews online.
LR5 and NIksoft DeFine are both really good. LR5 does a very good job.

Since PS went to the Cloud all of On one Software are getting rave reviews as the next best thing.I'm a PS person but sad to say I don't think I'll be taking the step to Cloud.Just recently purchased On One 7.5 that does include the upgrade to 8"0. My editing comp. is used for that and that alone. don't even have a virus scan on it.That's why I won't go to Cloud.Pain in the butt but I know I wont get viruses, which happened once and wiped all my images out.

Take a look at
http://www.neatimage.com/ You can use it stand-alone or plug-in and it has plenty of adjustments to balance grain/noise reduction against sharpness.

I thank all of you for your quick reply. It appears that there are several options to consider. I will check into all of them... Thanks again

Nik Dfine for me, I like the way you can paint the reduction where you need it. Ernie

If you shoot RAW you may try (free dowload and 1 month free use) the just released v.9 of DxO Optics Pro. It does more than noise reduction, it also corrects contrast, sharpness and exposure automatically (with manual adjustments).
I hated my Pentax until I started to use this not-so-known software.
Again, only IF you shoot RAW and IF your body/lens combination(s) is supported.
