Help Lens will not work

I have a Tamron lens that does not make the electrical connections to the camera. When it first stopped working I could jiggle the lens a bit and it would. I have tried cleaning the contacts but may not know how. It may be that the lens doesn't tell the camera it is a the lowest f/stop. Is there a way to adjust this. Or are their recommendations on someone to repair it? Thanks - Dave

Is there any "play" between the body and lens? The mount could be a little loose. The contacts could be cleaned with a little alcohol on a cotton swab. Be careful on the body side contacts and don't accidentally touch the focus screen above the mirror. Some will react to the alcohol and could cause the screen to fog. If you need it repaired check with Rick at Discount Camera Repair. He's a UHH member and has a very good reputation.

I seem to remember that some auto lenses needed a chip replacement to bring them into line with newer camera bodies. Uuglypher is right about the Tamron warranty and a quick phone call or email to their Technical Department wouldn't hurt. Could save you a lot of time, cash and effort.

I had a similar issue with a Big Sig on my D7000, there was an apparent communication loss between camera and lens but when I tapped the lens lightly it would work. I posted on UHH and was told to clean the contacts on the lens with a q-tip and alcohol. I had to do it twice and it worked. Saved me the trouble of sending it in for a check up.

I use TV "Tuner" cleaner for the contacts. Spray it on a microfiber cloth & then wipe the contacts...After all, it's meant to clean electrical contacts... Alcohol would likely work though...

Use Denatured Alcohol from the Hardware, NOT Rubbing Alcohol which contains a lot of water. The Denatured also deposits a slight lubricating coat as it cleans.
