They are two completely different lenses. The B003 is the model number of the older model which is discontinued. The PZD (model number B008) is the newer and current version. It is a noticeably smaller and lighter lens with a filter size of 62mm. The older non PZD version is larger, heavier and has a 72mm filter size. The newer version has significantly better optics and has a PZD focus motor which is very quiet in use. What is he charging for the old version? The new PZD version can be bought brand new from B&H for $449 including the Tamron warranty.

I've attached links for both lenses on the Tamron website

B003 Discontinued Non PZD version:

The price in the UK will probably be significantly more than £279. UK prices are generally not a straight conversion of US prices. In one of my British photo magazines it's listed for sale at £349. However, the difference of £130 for the new warrantied version over the used, unwarrantied older version, is still a much better deal, IMHO, if the OP can afford the extra pounds.

If you can afford it, I would go for a new warrantied copy of the current version at around £349. Its an all around better lens then the earlier version.

I see people trying the sell the used older version on eBay for between $350 and $400 USD, which is close to the price new for the updated version here. That is around £219 - £262. In my opinion the £219 it being offered for is too high. I would think something closer to £150-£160, or at most £175 would be more appropriate for this lens.
