Does anybody know the exact accessory part number for a hot-shoe electronic viewfinder on a Sony Powershot DSC-HX50VB compact. I'm having trouble locating that number.
Any information, comments, prices etc. would be welcome.
I just bought the camera, and I'm presently studying it's possibilities. I don't imagine that I'll purchase a viewfinder, but I'm always interested in details, if you no what I mean.
Thankyou..............Dave

I have one of those cameras. I think that viewfinder was made more for the sony rx1 though it works with the hx50. I read somewhere that it was really not worth the purchase for strictly the hx50 unless you had other sonys that use it.

That seems to make sense. The viewfinder would cost more than my camera.
How's the visibility on your HX50's LCD screen. I had the camera out today and it was overcast, but relatively bright, and I could barely see the image on the screen. I found it virtually impossible to compose an acceptable photo. I think this camera is going back to the store and I'll investigate other possibilities.
Camera Labs review said that the LCD image (920k) was a problem on this otherwise well featured attractive camera, but if you can't see with it, what good is it? Or, maybe it's just me and my old eyes.

Yes it's hard to see in bright sun light. You might like a panasonic lumix zs20. But it's the same problem with all these type of cameras with no viewfinder. You might want to look into the canon HX50. I bought that last month with this SX50. Though the HX50 may be due for an upgrade soon.

You might also look into the panasonic lumix LX7 (I have the LX5. You can buy a nice external viewfinder for it for $160.00 from Amazon. I like it and may upgrade to the LX7.

I use the viewfinder on the Sony DSC RX 100 II and I find it very helpful, especially under certain lighting or framing conditions. Works very well and also tilts for ease of viewing at low and other angles. Not cheap but helps you get better shots than with the LCD alone. Good luck.
