You couldn't have gotten any more spot on.
I believe this is a perfect example of "Tack Sharp" photography. :)
Not to forget, however, the subject matter is amazing as well.

I have a cannon zoom lens EF 75-300 mm 1:4-5. 111(#3) I do have a very nice tripod but havnt taken it out for sometime. I also need to learn my camera (Digital Rebel) f-stops etc. I really dont understand all the control's & how they work

If you desire to shoot like a pro inside of 72 hours (not kidding), pick up "The Digital Photography Book" (volumes 1 & 2) by Scott Kelby. Not technical at all. Your next book should be "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Yeah, there are tons of sites to tutor you, but these two books WORK.
