It is a Rebel XTi and I LOVE it! Due to budget constraints it was used but a wonderful price! Too bad it has a 180 pg manual that I am reading. Now for the 500 zoom lens.... Here is one photo from my first batch. Feed-back welcomed!
congrats on the camera !!,,looks like you are off to great start ,I would crop it a bit, top and bottom, but thats relative to whomever is looking at it,,keep shooting, looking forward to seeing more from you
What?!
You're actually reading the manual?!
You're going to make the rest of us (ok, some of us) look bad!!!
Congratulations on the "new" camera. Have fun and keep sharing your pics with us.

Nice shot. Did you say 500mm. Is that an L lens?

Congrats on the new camera, better, congrats on the shot, BIF tough shot, you captured it well, a bit of a crop and it shine. You show great potential. As for "Used camera" I bought my first slr in 1972 and still USE it. Like any tool, you take care of it, it will take care of you.
ENJOY
ckcouger, I cropped it for fun. I don't have a good eye, so others may do it differently. Anyway, hope you don't mind.

Even the uncropped is very soft. When you get your 500 mm lens, a shot like that will be sharp and detailed! Best wishes and keep on shooting!
Hi ckcougar - I have a Canon XTi also and love it. Here's one of my websites if you want to take a look at some of the 5,000 photos I've taken. It's been a very good and faithful camera.

If budget constraints forced purchase of a used XTi, I doubt that she had change left over for a $7000 lens.
Hi ckcougar, folks ask me what kind of camera to buy and just tell them any, as long as it say 'Canon' on the front. I have an SX20is which I love.
As to the photo of your pelican, I usually like looking at the front side of animals. I was always told that no one likes to look at a horse running away, same for birds. I guess this was just a drab day or else your colors would be more vibrant. Have fun with your 'new' camera!
You shot what you could shoot, autofocus needs a bit of time to focus, it is hard with a "new" camera and lens to take a shot with a moving subject. At times it makes sense to flip the switch on the lens to manual and focus as you pan the subject and then use a fast shutter speed to "stop the action" For a whole new camera and useage I think you did a good job, it takes time to get comfortable with a new camera
