I was out on Saturday taking pics of the sunrise and Belle Isle - Please let me know what you think. Detroit doesn't look too bad from this view....or does it?
Sunrise 12/10/11 - Mariner Park, Detroit MI

Bird on the Ice - Swans in the water 12/10/11
Think I like the swans best because there is a focal point. But I'm just a beginner.
Hope you dont mind it I add a couple other shots.

Yes. Like the trees providing focus on the bridge.

Not at all - add as much as you want - thank you!
I do like your shot of the bridge framed by the trees - I often look for natural framing when composing shots - nice one.

Thank you! Belle Isle is a great place - even this time of year.

1. Crop panoramas as panoramas. Photos 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 should have top and bottom cut off quite a bit. For some reason, many photographers of today think that the common format for printing, ie. 4/6, 5/7, etc. are appropriate for each photograph. They are not. But the solution is simple. Use a sharp knife and a straight edge and cut off the excess.
2. Straighten the images. One and two are not straight. You are "pouring the water out of the lake."
3. The first print could be worked up with a simple retouching program. Will require some experimentation.

great shots, while you were walking around, the golf course still there, played there over 20 years ago, it was cheap & you could double back for free
Detroit looks bad only if you drive off 95 into the inner city or grand river...
