Thanks very much! It's really odd that the flash doesn't faze them in the slightest, but when I snapped on the porch lights to see if I could get better focus... POOF! They (there were two) gone.

Wow! I never knew they had such eyelashes!! And I have to agree that it's odd the flash doesn't bother them. Maybe they suffer from 'deer in the headlight syndrome' from the flash, but they associate the porch light with the appearance of humans and danger. You did very well in the dark. That's not easy.
