I gave my old flashpoint studio lights a shot tonight. Here are a couple of shots. I used a off camera flash as the hair light and the flashpoint with a shoot through umberella as the main light. the second I used off camera flash with a 24" soft box as the main light and it was backlite from the side with the flashpoint studio light. Any tips and CC would be appreciated.

the two at the bottom are with just the off camera flash with the softbox.

Great shots! Well done! One suggestion...maybe turn the camera vertical for all the shots. LOVE the last shot as the lighting has a golden hue to it! Good Job!

Handsome young man. I too like the second one. Something about the expression and the lighting. Very nice!

Thanks MajicMark. The last one was converted to sepia or antique can't remember will have to check. I like the effect, it changed the feel if the pic.
I thought when you store original it would be the "original" in color. Learn something new everyday!

Thanks Jakebrake, I had a lot of fun trying to get the look I wanted. Next time I have to remember to write it down.

I've known him his entire life. I was surprised he said yes, he was there visiting one of my granddaughters. He's very shy, but seemed very comfortable in front of the camera.

I like the third one. The white on the collar is a bit distracting, but I like the way he's making eye contact with the camera and the tilt of his head. He looks like a very serious young man.

Thats my favorite also. The collar doesn't bother me. And yes he is a serious young man. I do have some where he's smiling, he says they look just like is third grade picture. I may post one later. Thanks

Great lighting. Just shows you don't need the most expensive gear to get top-notch results. Number 2&3 are my favorites but they are all well done. The white T-shirt as mentioned is distracting but could be digitally removed. Keep up the good work.

If the subject becomes famous, #2 would be a great photo to post on the book cover! Good job.

I like the first three because of your handling of the subject's great skin tones.
