I thought it would be simple but... all I want to do is make a slideshow with some of my pics - add music to it - and then burn it to a dvd!! is that asking too much? Apparently it is- I have a MacBook pro and all iMovie does is let you put a slide show together but then you need another software program to burn it to a dvd!! I tried downloading a couple of different programs to burn the dvd but both of them kept freezing up my laptop. I tried Iskysoft dvd burner and it froze up the laptop and I couldn't save anything - then I tried 1DVD from the app store and it did the same thing!! Talk about frustration!! It seems that with either of these programs I could only add 1 song!! if I have 12 minutes worth of slides who wants to hear the same song 3 times!!I made sure my operating system is updated so that's not the problem - anyone have any ideas??

If you have a DVD burner, you should have software that came with it. Roxio and Nero are the biggest bundled burning softwares and you may be able to download a free version from their websites.
I do have a dvd burner or I wouldn't be trying to do this!! it's external on the MacBook so there's no software with it like you get with a windows based pc
Picasa does it....just add photos and select movie. Even I could do it!!
are you saying I can burn the pics to a dvd and play that dvd on my tv?

Yes, I just did it for a wedding. Selected photos, selected music and that was it.
I use DVD Slideshow professional it works great for me.

You could use iMovie that comes packaged with your Mac. Just import the pictures into a new project, under File, click on project properties, select duration etc. Then add your music. Then you can share to iDVD or other formats to run on your iPhone, AppleTV or burn to a DVD. Lots of choices in the Share menu.
if i burn a dvd thru imovie it's only playable on my pc and i wanna be able to play it on my thru my xbox or playstation

Don't use iMovie, use iPhoto to create your slideshow.

When i burn movies with iDVD, they play in my Blue-Ray DVD. I don't have an Xbox but it is Blue-Ray (I believe) so it should work.

Not sure that doing it this way will play in a Blue-Ray DVD player. I think this will only copy to DVD and play on a computer (Mac).
