Dartmoor ponies. This is something that I have never seen before. I know that in the Highlands the crofters would use Highland ponies for ploughing.

I guessed it would be ponies. When I lived in Essex the stables that my now Ex-wife worked at had a couple of Shetland ponies that would pull a plough. Fortunately the land in the area wasn't too heavy. Another great set BTW.

I have never seen this either. I'm curious as to your camera and f setting. Leica? auto focus? The harness looks complicated to connect to the horses. Very interesting and informing set.

Thanks wilikioti. It was my D700 & 70 - 200 f/2.8 The first two were in the region of f/7 1/125sec ISO640 at about 200mm.
(The EXIF is there)

I know when you are using 2 horses to plow that you hook the single trees to the double tree, but for the life of me I can't remember what the 3 hook up tree is called. Still a double tree?

You are so good with faces. I love the second photo but they're all good. Interesting subject.

Nicely captured series, Graham. The second photo really shows a person with knowledge of what they are doing and the confidence that knowledge brings. She is appears to be a master at this.

Thanks for the comments Bob. This lady is something of a celebrity in the match ploughing circles.
