I just finished this book by Laura Hillenbrand. It's a story about an Olympic runner called into World War II, how his plane went down and he spent 40 days in a raft with agressive sharks, hot sun, thirst and hunger, only to land in his enemy's territory and then held as a prisoner of war in Japan.
It is incomprehensible what he went through to survive. If you haven't read this book, it is terrific.
I just finished it myself. Great read and amazing life told well by the author. Anjolina Jolie will start shooting the movie in the near future. My fear is that she will gloss over the postwar spiritual conversion he had. Doesn't seem to fit into her worldview. Hope I'm wrong. Highly recommend the book.
