I just wanted to introduce myself to UHH forum and ask a question. I'm strictly an amateur but have been shooting mostly vacation and landscapes photos from long ago with Pentax and then Nikon film cameras. I moved to a D70 and recently purchased a D7000. I do use a Canon G15 for some of my vacation shots. My question concerns an upcoming cruise to South America and a post trip to Iguazu Falls in Argentina. My wife shoots videos with her Sony and I take only stills and we are concerned about protecting the cameras in the dampness of the overlooks and when shooting in the tour boat. I understand I can't be under the falls with the camera but in general the entire scene has to be pretty hard on electronic equipment. What do you suggest we use for this protection? I also need suggestions for a dry bag for when shooting is out of the question. I thought I would take my DX 18-300 and DX 35 MM lenses along with the Canon G15. Thanks for all the interesting discussions and information and any suggestions you may pass along.

The cheapest "dry" bag is to carry a bin liner with you to cover the bag you have your gear in
Welcome to the Hog. You might look at Optechusa rainsleves. Cheap, ilghtweight, packs easy and reusable. Go to to Optechusa or to B&H Photo for more information and photo showing them on the net . ;)
I use a very large zip-loc bag. Cut a hole in it to put the lens thru, and tape it up around the end of the lens. With using the zip loc bags, they're cheap you can have a lot of them without worries in taking up space.

Might want to check out ewa marine, they work great and while not super cheap, are far less than real underwater housings (though you can shoot underwater with them (about 60ft).
