Version 9 of Adobe PS Elements came with my Nikon P510. I believe V12 or V13 is current. Is it worth loading and using on Windows 8 for amateur retouching work?
I'm using Photosuite 13 at the moment for the rare occasions that I want to enhance a photo or correct and crop. Will I be overpowered by this program.

I don't see why not using PSE9. Go ahead and enjoy PSE9. Here is something to help you.

I started with Elements 9 then upgraded to 11 and now 12. It takes a bit of learning no doubt. Since you own it why not install it. It sure can do some magic stuff. The content aware healing brush is worth the install. Check YouTube for some help. Lots of videos there. If you have the time it's a lot of fun.

I had Elements 7 and now have Elements 9. Best way I found to use it is google a problem - say like I want to add shadows. (how to add shadows with PSE9) Google alot of times will give you alot of youtube tutorials to help plus the youtube menu on the left will give you other stuff you can do. Ziza gave you some great options too.

Thanx all for the advice. Now that I've solved my wifi internet access problem, will load it, see if updates available and give it a try.

I have Windows 8.1 and PhotoShop Elements popped up controllin g one my photos. I didnt' load my version so found it available on the "store" that is present on the desktop scroll way to the right. I tried to use it to crop a photo and get messages that I can buy this app, that app, ie crop for only $4.95. Even Adobe is getting in the way of productivity now. I tried several features and get messages to buy the function.

Guess I'll have to avoid that program.

I am very comfortable with Elements 9 but after reading comments about 12 on UHH I decided to try the 30 day trial version of Elements 12. Everything about it seems "crisper" and more intuitive to use. I found a good price for it on eBay. I agree that using google is far better than any manual! Amazing to see how many answers there are to whatever question you pose.
