Thank you, folks, for your comments. I've reached the age where I have to run through a mental checklist: right lens?; right mode?;right composition?; don glasses and check focus?. I still forget things, though. How could I have prevented some of the blown out highlights on the white flower? Different time of day? Use an umbrella? Expose for the brightest parts, then lighten the rest in post-processing?
